Land Shark the finale.

I've decided to name him Curtis. He recently got a lot of bad press for trying to make friends with a surfer. I believe the story has been trending.

Land Shark part 2

I did a little more work on this today. I didn't think the anatomy was hitting the mark so I got some ref and made some modifications there. I'm itching to get back to squid face humming bird down there but I felt I needed to do some drills with color before revisiting that one. I read an article able composition today that definitely helped me out and to a large degree assisted with my decision making on this image here.

Coloring the previous post proved to be a little discouraging so I decided to give myself a break. This is a creature singing, fishing and hanging out with some birds.

Graphite sketches

Pencil will forever be my preferred medium. The origin of a couple of these are extremely personal to me the others are a done for the joy of creating.

I hear quite a bit that people fear clowns more than anything. I firmly believe that is a statement said purely for the sake of others hearing (you) spout something mildly clever. I don't buy it for a second. I think being in a live war zone with shells and bullets going off left and right would over shadow being next to a clown. A car accident. Like when the car rolls over and so forth. I've been riding shotgun in a situation like that and I stayed shook for a good long time. So the clown thing, I'm just not buying it. I did a bunch of clown portraits here. I wanted to see if I could re-imagine Pennywise from Steven King's IT. Ultimatelty I had fun just rendering out the blobby shapes and seeing if I could get the expressions right. That's about it. So there you go, a bunch of clowns.
